Baseball/Softball FAQ
What is the North Canadian Athletic Association (N.C.A.A.)?
The N.C.A.A. oversees baseball, softball, and basketball for multiple complexes. We are comprised of multiple non-profit complexes. Each complex holds two voting positions on the board for the N.C.A.A. All positions are volunteer based. For each sport, we have a commissioner who oversees that sport. Baseball is Dustin Tarbox and Softball is Shaun Quigley.
How do I know which complex to sign up through?
You’ll usually sign up through the complex closest to your home or school. While home games will be at your local complex, away games can be at any of the other league complexes.
Where will games be played?
Games can be held at any of the six complexes. For example, if your team signs up through Dale, home games will be at Dale, and away games could be at Bethel, Little Axe, Shawnee (Firelake), or Tecumseh.
Which complexes are part of the league?
Our baseball and softball league includes the following complexes:
• Bethel
• Dale
• Little Axe
• Shawnee (Firelake)
• Tecumseh
How do I sign up my child for this league?
Sign-ups are handled by your local complex. The N.C.A.A. oversees the league but does not manage registration. Most complexes have Facebook pages with sign-up details.
When will we know the nights we play on?
Game nights will be finalized after the baseball preseason tournament. Games will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays, with make-up games on Wednesdays or Fridays unless a field is available sooner.
When will preseason tournament brackets be released?
Brackets will be posted by Friday before the tournament. Please refrain from sending schedule requests as we cannot accommodate them.
When will the full schedule be released?
The full schedule will be released no earlier than the Friday after the baseball preseason tournament. Creating the schedule takes time, so your patience is appreciated.
What if our team needs to forfeit a game?
Notify your local coordinator at least 24 hours before the game. If a forfeit is called close to game time or your team no-shows, you will be responsible for fees for both games, including fees for any scheduled umpires.
Who should I contact if I have an issue?
For any concerns, reach out to your complex coordinator.
Where can I find the league rules or more information?
League rules are available on our website: www.northcanadianathletics.org under files. For updates, check your local complex’s Facebook page.
How will the preseason tournament work?
The preseason tournament will be played over multiple days, similar to the regular season only with a bracket. The number of teams in the tournament will determine how many days are used and whether games will be played on the weekend. This format allows us to finalize the setup for league games sooner and reduces the number of games teams need to play in a single day during a weekend tournament.
How will I know if games are canceled?
Check the N.C.A.A. Facebook page and your local complex’s Facebook page for updates on cancellations due to weather or other circumstances. Cancellations are typically announced after 3 PM, as most of our volunteers work full-time jobs.
